“This was my second trip to Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. My first visit was in November of 2025 for autumn foliage photography. Although the tour was marketed as a photography trip, it felt more like a rushed “hop on, hop off” touristy bus tour with little intention behind the stops. Beware of such scams! This time however, I travelled with Uzair Ahmad from Travel Bug, and the difference was night and day. If photography is your main purpose, having a local guide who is a genuine photographer makes all the difference. Uzair was brilliant! He knew exactly where to go, the best angles, and most importantly the right time of day to shoot each location. I've learned so many photography tips and techniques from him. We hiked, explored deep into the mountains, and ventured into villages to find meaningful compositions. Along the way, we connected with locals, sharing meals, conversations, and even resting in their homes. It was a genuine cultural immersion experience, on top of a full day of photography. The itinerary was also very well planned. Over the length of 11 days, we stayed in beautiful and comfortable hotels the likes of Serena Khaplu Palace and Serena Hunza. After long days of shooting from sunrise to sunset, it was reassuring to return to such relaxing accommodations to recharge. This was the photography adventure I had hoped for, and Uzair delivered beyond expectations. Highly recommended for anyone serious about photography and looking for a more authentic, immersive experience.”
